"OPIOID USE: EXPLORATION OF ADDICTION" PANEL DISCUSSION
Eastern Claims Conference, April 2 - 4, 2017 Boston, Massachusetts
Downers Grove, IL - March 17, 2017 - Coventry will participate in "Opioid Use: Exploration of Addiction," a panel discussion being held at the Eastern Claims Conference (ECC) April 2nd through the 4th. The discussion will take place Tuesday, April 4th from 9:00 am to 10:15 am.
The panel will cover the current drug epidemic, its origination from well-meaning doctors wanting to help patients with pain problems, to how it went off the rails by addressing:
(1) The pharmacological basis for these drugs that makes them so potent and so difficult to get off;
(2) The medically-focused and claims-management strategies that are beginning to bear fruit in workers' compensation;
(3) The larger psycho-social context of chronic pain and the behavioral strategies that must be part of the solution.
The discussion will provide concrete take-aways that insurance professionals can use to identify and assist potential problem claimants/patients.
