Innovations in Pain and Opioid Management, Treatment, and Recovery

In this session we reviewed the epidemiology of the opioid crisis with a focus on the impact on employers. We then discussed pain as a biopsychosocial phenomenon providing both adjusters and case managers with a deeper appreciation of the available interventions that will help injured workers recover function and experience pain reduction more quickly. Lastly we focused on how to become champions for those under our care who are struggling with opioid dependence and ultimately mitigate the risk of death and adverse outcomes.
