November 11-15, 2019 is Kids’ Chance Awareness week. It’s a time to highlight and raise awareness of this ever-growing organization that provides educational opportunities and scholarships for children affected by workplace injuries. Coventry is a proud supporter of Kids’ Chance of America and actively participates with many of the organization’s state chapters. Earlier this year we created a first of its kind Catastrophic Care Referral Program designed to refer affected parties directly to Kids’ Chance. The program provides a monthly report that flags eligible cases where the injured worker is gravely injured or killed in the course of a work-related accident. Our Case Managers are prompted to contact the adjuster, the injured worker, or a responsible family member to refer them to Kids’ Chance. In the past seven months we have already identified over 700 potential referrals. We hope to expand beyond Case Management in the future to identify additional candidates through our DMEplus® (medical equipment and ancillary services) and First Script® (pharmacy benefit management) lines of business. To learn more about three young people who have benefited from Kids’ Chance Scholarships view the video below. If you are aware of a child who may qualify for a Kids’ Chance scholarship, even if their college-age years are down the road, please contact Kids’ Chance to find out more. About Kids’ Chance Kids’ Chance of America is a 501 (c)(3) organization that represents a collection of state-level non-profit Kids' Chance organizations that provide scholarship opportunities to children who need financial assistance due to a parent’s work-related injury or fatality. Cumulatively, since their inception in 1988, Kids' Chance organizations have awarded over 6,500 scholarships totaling over 20 million dollars. Learn more at www.kidschance.org.
